S-E-A is adding to our Houston team due to growth! This is an exceptional opportunity for a curious and self-driven engineer who may be bored with design and seeking a fun challenge and diversity in daily work. This opportunity involves investigating the "why" when things fail. Our engineers and scientific experts serve as subject matter experts to reveal the root cause of failures and to opine in deposition and trial on their areas of expertise.
Essential Job Functions & Responsibilities: - Conduct field investigations and perform failure and accident analysis on incidents involving all types of mechanical systems including HVAC systems, natural gas, boilers, pressure vessels, steam valves, pumps, , plumbing and various mechanical devices and equipment
- Conduct unbiased investigations for various types of clients
- Responsible for retention and development of client relations
- Prepare oral and written reports in layman's terms that document causes of failure, extent of loss, and recommended remediation.
- Deliver professional presentations, develop client relationships and promote self to client groups
- Ability to support conclusions by appropriate expert testimony in legal proceedings
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks and participating in professional societies
- Ability to accept and integrate constructive feedback into job performance
- Regular and predictable presence at work
Position Requirements: - Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required, Master's degree preferred
- P. E. registration through testing within 12 months of commencing employment
- Minimum of seven years of post-academic engineering experience
- Experience with some (experience with all is NOT required) of the following: natural gas, boilers, pressure vessels, steam valves, pumps, HVAC systems, plumbing and various mechanical devices and equipment
- Must possess strong writing skills
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills
- Public speaking experience a plus
Physical Requirements: - Ability to travel 25% of the time
- Ability to maneuver in and around an accident site
- Ability to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to carry equipment to and from job sites
- Ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing
- Ability to drive in all conditions
- Ability to fly on airplanes
- Ability to visually inspect job sites and relevant artifacts
- Ability to wear personal protective equipment as required by the work site
- Ability to learn a new industry and obtain required certifications
